Human Resources Consulting

BothoPrime Consulting believes the organisational structure and culture determine the tone of Human Resources (HR) policies, processes, and practices. A company can have a hierarchical, flat, or holocratic organisational structure.

The organisational structure can either be holocratic, hierarchical, or flat. A hierarchical and flat structure model is a centralised, top-down command style. A flat structure has a few leaders on top but follows a classical top-down, centralised model. A holocratic organisational structure gives teams more power and authority to manage themselves rather than get instructions from top management or a leader. In a hierarchical structure, the organisation's leadership tells employees what to do and how to do it.

The tone of HR policies and practices is more 'telling' and non-negotiable. In a holocratic organisation structure, the HR practices are framed within the labour legal framework, but the policies are more fluid and organic. They are referred to as guidelines, but teams and employees have a voice if HR guidelines or any process in the company do not make sense. The procedures in the company are used as working documents, they are not rigid and static.

If the organisation wants to follow a typical hierarchical structure, then BothoPrime Consulting will review current employee contracts and HR practices. If nothing is in place, Bothoprime will use the below Human Resources process to set up an HR department.

Suppose the company wants to adopt a holocratic model. In that case, BothoPrime will use the following approach: This model requires time to discuss what will suit the company's operations better. It also needs to be applied to all company processes and practices. Therefore, this approach can only be done on an HR retainer basis of not less than 12 months.
